Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers and Old Fashioned Ordering Do Not Mix
Stopped by Wendy's drive thru last week to order a #6 Spicy Chicken sandwich and a Kids Meal Chicken Nugget for the girls. At the drive thru window I was informed that the computer is down and you need to order from the window. At the window I was asked to come inside to order from the counter. No problem! As I entered the restaurant I observed four people in line ahead of me. Upon closer observation, I noticed that the Wendy's employees were taking orders the 'old fashioned way' - with pen and paper!
I waited approximately 15 minutes to order and after pointing out on the overhead menu exactly what a #6 value meal actually is comprised of, I wound up with two kids meal and a #6 plus a biggie-size tea that doesn't fit in my cupholder. The manager was on the phone with tech support and punching codes into the CRT register to no avail, all the time telling the employees to round down to the nearest dollar.
I started to wonder just how much of the fast food concept was married to computer technology:
Will the chicken be cooked to the 160 degree temperature if the computer doesn't beep?
Better still, will my fries be cold??
Funny, I just don't recall the White Castle Hamburger ordering process being so complicated. But then again, at 4AM in the morning, after a night of libations, natural mind-altering activities and partying, nothing seemed complicated!

Dick Gregory's Viewpoint on Michael Jackson
By Bakari Akil II
Great job! Here are your collected comments on the above topic:
Shirley:
I agree with Dick Gregory. The media can make or break somebody, and it seems to me like Michael has been getting his fair share of "breaks" these days. Poor thing, he's such an easy target, too! My prayers are with him, though and I can't wait for the truth to come out.
Nadia:
Hey Jenkins,
Cheryl and I have discussed this in detail and I had and still a major problem
with the process of 1) changing the laws so that you try to get him, and 2)
entering him home the way they did with the number of people that
they had. It just seems outrageous to me. Among other things, it seems to me that any evidence that they wanted to found would appear there given the
number of people trampling through his home. I said then, and I still say that I want to see the legal process work to prove his guilty or innocent. I am not
convinced either way the way some people are.
The average person don't believe in conspiracies because they can't believe that
people will go to such lengths to entrap people, but it happens all the time;
especially when you are a minority with a power base like MJ. I cannot confirm
the particulars of the conspiracy that DG outlines, but I believe it is possible. It is not a stretch for me to believe the record companies, the banks wanting his rights to the Beatles & Elvis' collections or the others who believe he really is abusing children would conspire to get him.
My problem with MJ is that if he is as aware (knows what time it is) as DG says
he is, then why would he give the conspirators the ammunition to come after him
the way he has? More importantly, it is mind-boggling to me that MJ refuse to
change his behavior with children after the first charges brought against him 10
years ago (that cost him a substantial amount of money - approx. $24 million).
HE HAS INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH CHILDREN! There is no way
around this fact. And that saddens me. If MJ is guilty I want to see the system
work to prove that he is guilty because even though he appears guilty, he
could be innocent. I watched an unrelated show on TV recently discussing how
most psychiatrists are not trained properly in how to interview children to abuse
cases. They lead children to believe what they themselves believe happened.
Given MJ's behavior with children, it is not a stretch either to believe that a
psychiatrists will believe he is abusing children. Abuse of children is a nasty charge. One that a person usually cannot live down. I would hate to have
his life destroyed like this and he is innocent. But if he is guilty, he should
be prosecuted to the fully extent of the law!

Hey; strange things happen when money is on the table. People have always taken advantage of those who cannot defend themselves. The media to is often responsible for inciting the masses to scapegoat someone. I hope that Dick is correct. $1.5 billion is worth hitting a lot of people for - in many circles. Perhaps this is the motivation - look at the two rappers who were gunned down (Biggie and Tupok) that was strange also. Who knows the answer - calling for the truth hopefully will get the facts out on the table - TX - BG

AJ!!!
What's up, my brotha? Interesting read about MJ. The sad fact of the matter is that it is going to take our people of influence (and mega $$$$$) to make a difference. When you have people like MJ, OJ, and to some degree, Oprah, that either don't do anything for black communities (or only do things as a "token" gesture), it makes it hard to support them when they need it. It's the crab in the barrel mentality that is too prevalent in our folks.
Perhaps if these stars and sports figures come together to start black-owned and operated communities, media outlets, shopping centers, banks, grocery stores, etc...why would we ever need to worry about the "man" trying to blackmail us? It all comes down to the age old adage that it takes a village.....We all need to pitch in....until then, we'll continue in this circle without end.
Peace
Leo:
Tony,
In America all you have to do is show me the money ($$$$$). For 1.5 billion, most of the wealthy people in this world have started wars. Michael' s record sales may not make it past this rumor. Whenever they want you to look guilty they send lots of police cars. The more police involved the more dangerous you appear to be. How many times have you seen three or four police cars involved in a traffic violation?
In America money covers a multitude of sins, and hides a multitude of sinners. I think Michael Jackson's collateral is enough to get him in trouble with those who want to steal it. If he looses the collateral his problems may just go away and then we will know the truth about the validity of the charge.
Michael payed off on the last charge and I believe they expect him to pay off on this one. Innocent or not I believe money will ease the pain of this charge.
Tony:
I am leaning on the side of a conspiracy as well. However one would think that with all the controversies surrounding MJ ( dangling baby, extreme fascination with children and fantasy) Mike would alter his behavior. It is very interesting that educated people , in our day and time , still believe everything that is on the media. With all of the resources available (internet, blogs, forums) one would think to investigate matters on their own behalf in search of the truth.
I wonder who is next on the chopping block...Tiger Woods just got engaged to a Caucasian woman. Kobe Bryant is still feeling the effects of his fax paux. Minorities in general must walk a different path than the rest of society. Keep it straight and narrow!
I can't wait for the TRUTH!
